As above, so below; as below, so above
In this old Hermetic axiom, the principles of correspondence embody the truth of correlation between life and the state of being. It's an understanding that there are forces outside of ourselves that exist and manifest because of one's current state. In other words, what the mind creates, so can it be made reality. I've talked before about how happiness is a choice and it is by this principle of correspondence that it hones true.
Be Love, Create Love. Be the mirror that others may shine from.
I recently got back from an impromptu trip to Kauai, one of my favorite places in the world. It was more of a “workation” since I was there shooting some pictures for a brand, but I had plenty of time to explore new places (and old favorites). Ha’ena beach is one of those magical places that no matter how many times you visit you are captivated by its beautiful white sand, turquoise blue ocean and rich green jungle. There’s a small reef shelf at one end where these volcanic rocks sit upon the beach. Each time I go the best description I have given it (and used in previous images of the place) is “Foundations of the Earth”. In this place you just feel connected to the foundations of the earth: Powerful ocean waves wash onto a serene beach with black volcanic rock surrounded by a lush tropical jungle hillside. It has everything you dream of on a tropical island all in one place. On this day I decided to capture the intensity of the day in black and white. Seems strange after just describing all of the color that exists here, but contrast has it’s own beauty and in this moment when the sky mirrored the ground in harsh light, black and white seemed most appropriate. I hope you love it as much as I do.
