I awoke from a dream
where sunset skies
spoke violet lies
of the breaking
of rhyme and verse
the unmaking of my universe
The lands they did lament
the ocean without tides
they were bereft
for time had left
the stars had stolen eyes
Existence ceased to change
as time was locked in present
the beauty of life
was now in strife
the truth, quiescent
The silence was persistent
my end was near at hand
Utter desolation
within my isolation
I was too weak to stand
The darkness began to sing
in deep tones, a dissident sound
my ears were bleeding
as I lay pleading
weeping on the ground
Loss and pain
harbinger of shame
I was left in a miasma of fault
I shed all light and chose to die
as a slug does, in salt
...
Beyond wonder I then stirred
at memory of love I woke
starlight eyes
stilled darkened lies
it was a message of hope
I sat, and I pondered
the balance of darkness and light
takes both to rise
to banish lies
it gave me a reason to fight
I arise from a dream
where beauty lies in starlit eyes
and sharing of rhyme and verse
now with love, I give to you
my universe.
